Fundraising in Canada - Verifying your account

When creating a GoFundMe in Canada, you'll be required to verify your personal or company information in order to allow for successful payouts and donations to your GoFundMe.

If you fail to verify your information, your payouts and/or your ability to accept incoming donations may be paused until it's verified. To avoid this, we recommend verifying your personal or company information as soon as possible. If we’re unable to verify your information, you may be asked to provide additional documents for review, such as:

Individual Requirements:

*Physical address, phone number, and bank account information must be in Canada.

If we can't verify your identity with the information provided, you may also be required to provide proof of liveness, which entails you taking a selfie and uploading the photo, along with a photo of your ID, to our payment partner for review.

If you prefer not to upload a selfie alongside your ID, you will instead need to provide a proof of address document with your ID.

Organization Requirements:

If you're the representative creating the fundraiser, you'll also need to provide your own information, including:

If we can’t verify your identity or the identity of any member of your organization with the information provided, that person may also be required to provide proof of liveness, which entails taking a selfie and uploading the photo, along with a photo of their ID, to our payment partner for review.

If you, or the person being verified, prefer not to upload a selfie alongside your ID, you will instead need to provide a proof of address document with your ID.
